Herb Solon purchased a small motor shop in Brooklyn in February of 1947.  B&F Electric Motors was born!

Twenty years later he expanded his motor repair shop to Long Island. In the 1970s Herb’s sons Michael and Charles took the business to a whole new level, by creating a sales and service atmosphere with an emphasis on the HVAC/R contractor. They joined Johnstone Supply in 1988, which is now a 4-billion-dollar company. The power of Johnstone provided them with national buying power, access to all the top brands, and a tremendous support system within the industry. The third generation of Solons, Josh and Ian, are preparing to carry the torch for many years to come.
